The 'Sew Grateful' Quilt Pattern is now available as a Free Block of the Month
That's right, there is absolutely no charge to your guild or quilt shop. There are, however, a few things, you'll need to do to make this happen and to respect our designer's patterns.

What started as a keepsake to remember my book and its collaborators became one of 2021's biggest online sew-along. The Sew Grateful for 2021 sew-along was a huge success, we had 500 members from 5 countries in our Facebook group and more quilters wanting to join right up to the end.
I'm exhausted, which is why I'll let you guys take it from here. I created the Sew Grateful quilt with help from the tipsters in my book and a few original patterns of my own. It's been a tough couple of years for guilds to keep their members motivated, for shops to stay engaged with their customers, and for each of us in our own daily lives. So here's an uplifting quilt to share with your members or customers, we can all go forward in gratitude for what we had, what we missed, and for what's to come.
Joining is Easy
-
Have your gang register as members on healthyquilting.com
This is important as they need to access the handouts directly from the designers. The patterns are not to be emailed or shared directly with your members. Please respect the designer's generosity and visit their websites for the pattern or tutorial for the technique. The handouts will have additional information regarding cutting directions for 12" blocks.
-
Sign up for my newsletter to be notified of BOM updates, receive monthly stretches for makers, and ergonomic tips.
-
Each Guild or Shop needs their own BOM instructor who will share:
My insights into the meaning behind each block
Information about the Sew Healthy & Happy tipster responsible for each block
Will be available to answer any questions you may have.

Fabric Requirements:
-
Feature Fabric: 8 fat quarters is a safe bet
-
Background and Sashing: 2.5 of background fabric is generous, it allows for a little freedom when cutting.
-
Backing: 4 yds of standard 42" wide fabric will allow for extra if your quilt is being machined quilted. There's a great post over at the Missouri Star blog -https://blog.missouriquiltco.com/how-to-figure-yardage-for-quilt-backing/
-
Binding: .5 yard
How much fabric do you really need?
That's a good question. When I designed this pattern using my EQ8 software, the fabric requirements were ridiculously high, no matter how I juggled colour placement. I purchased
all of the fabrics I used online and wanted to see them in person before I finalized my colour choices. So of course I ordered the complete range of every line, which is why some of my quilts used 8 fat quarters, some used 14. This quilt could be made with fewer fat quarters if using fewer colours. It's always good to buy a little extra!

SEW GRATEFUL FOR 2021
COVID CAME. IT WAS A TEST.
TIME TO STOP AND TAKE A REST.
WE ALL STAYED HOME WITH FAMILY,
SURROUNDED BY POSITIVITY.
IN OUR HOUSES, BIG AND SMALL,
WE STAYED AT HOME FOR THE GOOD OF ALL.
OUR ROCK STAR FRIENDS AND PETS WERE THERE
TO SHOW US EACH HOW MUCH THEY CARED.
WITH STRENGTH AND PEACE AND GRATEFUL HEARTS,
WE CAME TOGETHER AND DID OUR PART.
IF BY CHANCE YOU GOT SICK,
THE ESSENTIAL STARS WERE THERE REAL QUICK.
THEY WORKED AND WORKED THE WHOLE YEAR LONG,
TO MAKE US WELL AND KEEP US STRONG.
ALTHOUGH WE THOUGHT WE’D GET AWAY,
HOME IS WHERE WE HAD TO STAY.
NOW WE TRAVEL FAR AND NEAR,
SEEING THOSE WE HOLD SO DEAR.
HUGS AND KISSES WERE TABOO,
IT WASN’T SOMETHING SAFE TO DO.
NOW REJOICE! WE CAN ONCE MORE
HOLD CLOSE AND LOVE THOSE WE ADORE.
THE PINEAPPLE IS A WELCOME SIGN
THAT ONCE AGAIN THE SUN DOES SHINE.
WE CAN GATHER, SHARE A SPACE
AND GET TOGETHER FACE TO FACE.
WE STAYED INSIDE AND SEWED AT HOME.
PIECED OUR PROJECTS ALL ALONE.
OF THE MANY THINGS WE BUILT,
WE ARE SEW GRATEFUL FOR THIS QUILT!
